religion is alright religion is like a flower
the Simple Practitioner sees not just a flower
but the garden and beyond the garden wall

religion is alright
social convention is alright
and there are some who find a path beyond these

ritual, regimen, dogmas, learning
all have their time and place
they can be teacups to serve what the pot pours

moral codes are alright
and ethics are alright
they are lamp posts

the Simple Practitioner however
soon finds their path illuminated
from within by loving compassion

striving for the good is alright
and concern for justice is alright
they are marks of a courageously vulnerable heart

and soon even striving and concern
can cease as one becomes peace itself
becomes justice and love expanding

doing and trying
they pass away
and leave contented tranquility

and everything is alright
